Introduction and Background of the Proposed Research Study

For my NURS FPX 8014 Assessment 3, I presented a case for policy development and resource allocation in the long term to ameliorate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to its rapid spread, COVID-19 has emerged as a serious threat to global health, with a particularly noteworthy manifestation in Jamaica. The illness has a major negative influence on overall health and affects people of all ages. My long-term goal is to keep raising awareness of the effects of COVID-19 on public health and advocating for legislative changes. Additionally, our program seeks to support communities vulnerable to this critical issue.

These strategies consider the sensitivity to culture and admit that the pandemic does impact all. The most important thing to note is the effects of COVID-19 on human health because it can come with several other subsequent health issues as a condition — one example is fever.

Third NURS FPX 8014 Assessment Impact of COVID-19 on Jamaica A global health crisis drastically affecting this nation. International Medical Corps, in response efforts, contributed significantly to essential supplies, including personal protective equipment and infection prevention supplies, to support healthcare systems (OCHA, 2022). Furthermore, emergency funding is given to the Jamaican government to support its efforts to safeguard the weaker and impoverished populations. Because of the outbreak’s effects on the travel and tourism sector, Jamaica has also experienced a notable economic downturn. This industry supplied 33% of jobs available and more than 30% of the GDP of the nation prior to the crisis.  

This assessment aims to increase public awareness of the impacts of Covid-19 on health. Widespread change in peoples’ daily routine, with most of the aspects of those changes being unclear and causing fear about the future. My objective is to trigger action at the community and all sector levels as a response to this global crisis by mobilizing, as observed by Cooperrider et al. (2008) and Ghebreyesus (2020).

This will focus on controlling sporadic outbreaks, preventing further community transmission, and the provision of adequate medical care services. I urge the audience to invest in strategic development and long-term resources to improve Covid-19 outcomes and share the benefits not only with themselves but also with the global population.

Reflection

I acquired great insights during a meeting with the Association of Nurse Practitioners (ANP) in Jamaica, which were quite pertinent to this NURS FPX 8014 Assessment 3. The audience was supportive of my strategies, and their questions contributed to the entire debate. One important takeaway was ANP’s dedication to providing its members with the most current information on COVID-19 and its treatment. Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) continue to use best practices when caring for and treating COVID-19 patients (Diez-Sampedro et al., 2020).

As frontline healthcare workers, the APNs were attentive to my presentation. If I were to do this presentation again, I would include extra tactics that are consistent with ANP policies to increase audience engagement. Presenting these strategies in NURS FPX 8014 Assessment 3 helped me feel confident in advocating for policy and resource development.

Summary

I discuss some of the most important things I learned from my meeting with the ANP in this NURS FPX 8014 Assessment 3. The significance of taking a multifaceted approach to COVID-19 that takes into account regular updates is one important point. Encouraging broad participation in pandemic response initiatives requires mobilizing all communities and sectors. Controlling the spread of COVID-19 requires strict adherence to respiratory protocols, physical distancing measures, and proper sanitation.

This NURS FPX 8014 Assessment 3 also emphasizes how critical it is to stop community transmission by using infection prevention strategies. APNs have actively participated in educating their patients to lower transmission, and public education is a key factor in stopping the spread of Covid-19.

According to Diez-Sampedro et al. (2020), another important lesson is the necessity of promptly isolating and caring for sporadic cases in order to stop community transmission. Managing the pandemic requires preserving vital health services, safeguarding frontline staff, and providing assistance to disadvantaged groups. These tactics are essential for combating COVID-19 in Jamaica, where the virus’s spread has been curbed by sensible laws pertaining to physical separation, hygienic practices, and respiratory precautions.
