Introduction
As the Director of Organizational Development, I am tasked with making sure that the human resources programs of the organization and policies align with the current goals and objectives. Recently, one of our company’s strengths and areas that need improvement were assessed by a consulting firm; as agreed, they presented to us their strengths and areas that need improvement. The latter has to do with the total rewards system, in which it was noted that the system is aligned with our mission and vision, as well as our strategic goals and objectives.
The assignment would be to update the number and type of rewards being offered, as the consultants suggested, to integrate the entire reward system more closely with the values and behaviors of the organization. This included the establishment of new conditions with the principal aims of enhancing cohesion and motivating the workers to work towards the long-term strategic objectives of the company.
Part 1-Employee Questionnaire
Introduction to the Questionnaire
Purpose
The present systems of rewards need to be assessed in light of employee opinion, who have to live with them every day. For this reason, we wanted to get a better understanding of how the topics of total rewards would be perceived by various types of employees.
Importance
The commitment of employees and their involvement is critical during any organizational change management process, even during cardinal changes and modifications in the reward system (Felix Orikpete & Raphael Ewim, 2024). The reason the subjects are concerned is that they are also in the process, and in this manner, all the changes that are occurring will be in harmony with them.
Compensation Statement (Likert-Type)
- The low wage that the job description will pay me is right, given the other job opportunities that I can find to do the same job in other organizations.
- Bonus (performance pay) will help to motivate me to work better.
- I value my company’s work as well as the remuneration that I receive for this work.
Benefit Statements
- The contribution that can be made to this plan is what makes it appropriate to suit my long-term retirement plan requirement, structured by the company.
- The medical benefits being offered as an employee are sufficient to cater to my needs as well as the needs of those dependent on me.
- My overall perception of the whole benefits package provided by the company is satisfactory.
Work-Life Statements (Likert Type)

- What do you wish the company to offer you, and how could they further assist you in striving towards your work-life balance?
Part 2-Leadership Questionnaire
Introduction to the Questionnaire
Purpose
A set of questions designed to gain insight into the perceptions of the existing reward system, as posed by the executive people. Then, in a way, we can continue to agree that any alterations in rewards have after-effects that are best suited to the general aims and objectives of the company.
Importance
The ability to provide leadership insight might aid in securing vertical alignment of the organizational plans and processes, including rewards (Sweeney, 2024). They will be able to make comments based on how well the current system or lack of the same is effective in supporting and/or restricting the achievement of our mission, vision, and strategic directions.

Part 3-Narrative Summary
A. Rationale behind Questionnaire Design
The Choice of Likert-type Scales and Open-Ended Questions
For this reason, the Likert-type scales were the most suitable type of scale to use for this study as they provide clear quantitative results and are easily compared to understand the responses of the study participants (Alabi & Jelili, 2022). It is possible to measure the degree of consensus or dissent on certain statements about the compensation, as well as other elements of the rewards system that are not salary, using this format. Open-ended questions were used to incorporate quantitative results that have the additional benefit of providing qualitative information, as written responses from the employees/leadership that could go unrecognized by the evaluator using only multiple-choice questions.
Compensation, Benefits, and Work-Life
These are all key areas to determine the employees’ perception of the total reward package in the company. The compensation is the money given to the workers and may have a direct impact on the financial requirements and motivational capabilities of the workers (Muhammad Reza Putra & Huda Aulia Rahman, 2020). Benefits, on the other hand, are the non-monetary benefits given to the employees; they directly relate to the overall well-being of the employees. Organizations have to contend with human resources management and employee satisfaction, and that is why flexible work arrangements and vacation policies are crucial. Then the current rewards are considered in all three aspects, which aid in determining what needs to be altered.
Importance of Gathering both Quantitative and Qualitative data
The methodology is enhanced by Likert types with open-ended questions to achieve triangulation, which are more effective in collecting quantitative data and qualitative data (Halevi Hochwald et al., 2023). Though closed (that is, Likert type of response) questions offer the added benefit of being measurable, to be compared and analyzed, the open questions allow one to see how the employees and leaders think, feel, desire, etc. It will make sure that any adjustment made to the rewards system will be narrowly focused on pertinent problems identified in a holistic analysis of the rewards system.
B. Use of Results
Data from the Questionnaires will be analyzed
To gain an understanding of the patterns, trends, and potential interactions, Likert-type scales will be used to collect the quantitative type of data and will be analyzed with the help of inferential statistics (t-tests, ANOVA, regression analyses) (Cooksey, 2020). These open-ended questions will be answered, and the responses will be analyzed; details of the answer options will be coded to identify the emergence of themes, emotions, and ideas. The combination of both sorts of data will paint the complete picture of the spot on the particular reward system from both the employee’s and leadership’s angles.
Insights will guide the Revision of the Total Rewards System
These data gathered from the questionnaires will then be utilized in deciding how strategies can be implemented to review the overall reward system in a more relevant way (Kang & Lee, 2021). Developable skills will be strengths, and some skills that need improvement will be development goals that will be addressed using evidence-based Interventions. Therefore, when the successful reward system has to be redesigned, the revised system could be designed so as to increase recruitment and retention of qualified individuals in the organization, and motivators, as the design of the revised reward system was in line with the mission, vision, and strategy of the organization.
Alignment with the Organization’s Mission, Vision, and Strategy
The sense of purpose the organization is attempting to achieve needs to be brought to the fore when redesigning the judgment of the overall rewards system. The processes of recognizing and meeting the needs and expectations of employees and the leadership, along with the creativity of the rewards system, will be unified with the organizational core values and strategic plan, based on the questionnaires that will be provided (Zhu and Huang, 2023). This alignment is coupled with the reward system, making sure that the system will be one of the most important determinants of the success of a company.
Conclusion
Lastly, it has been an effective learning process for our organization to map out the processes that we must undertake to introduce our total rewards system in a more constructive direction towards our mission statement, vision, and organizational goals. We have been able to gather valuable data on their perceptions of the situation and what can be improved with the use of a well-designed questionnaire for employees and top managers.
